| Germination | Seed Preparation: Soak the artichoke seeds in warm water for about 24 hours before sowing. This helps soften the seed coat and encourages germination. Sowing: Plant the seeds in pots or seed trays filled with light, well-draining potting mix. Place the seeds about 1 cm deep and lightly cover with soil. Watering: Water gently to moisten the soil, but avoid making it waterlogged. Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the germination period. Heat and Light: Place the pots or trays in a warm, sunny location. The ideal temperature for artichoke seed germination is around 20-25°C (68-77°F). Germination Time: Artichoke seeds typically take 10 to 20 days to germinate. Transplanting: Once the seedlings have developed two or three true leaves, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into the ground if outdoor conditions are suitable (after the last frost). Maintenance: Plant the young plants in rich, well-draining soil in a sunny location. Water regularly and fertilize with a balanced fertilizer to support their growth.
