Zantedeschia Aethiopica
Commonly known as the Calla Lily, Zantedeschia aethiopica is an elegant perennial known for its striking white, funnel-shaped flowers and lush, arrow-shaped green leaves. The plant can reach a height of 2 to 3 feet (60 to 90 cm) and thrives in moist, well-drained soil. Its stunning blooms, each consisting of a single large petal surrounding a central yellow spadix, make it a popular choice for gardens, floral arrangements, and water features. Native to southern Africa, Calla Lily is hardy in USDA zones 8-10 and prefers full sun to partial shade. It is also known for its ability to thrive in wet conditions, making it an excellent choice for planting near ponds or in rain gardens. With its stately form and long-lasting blooms, Calla Lily adds a touch of timeless elegance to any garden or landscape.

Species Zantedeschia aethiopica
Germination The white arum is very easily cultivated by seed. Sow Zantedeschia aethiopica seeds on the surface of a peaty seed sowing mix at about 25øC. Take care not to sow them too thickly as they will need space to form the fleshy roots. The seeds will usually germinate in 30-90 days, but even under good conditions germination may be erratic. The seeds will only germinate with light. Germination can take longer. Be patient!
