The orange yellow to red flowers can appear at anytime of the year as long as the plant is mature enough. Occasionally, it even produces small edible fruit with a reddish tint.
The fruits are a conical pod with seeds contained in holes in the pod. When the seeds are ripe, they become loose in the pod. The pod then tips down towards the water, releasing the seeds.
Owing to its name, the Fragrant Granadilla has very fragrant flowers. The flowers are spectacular, 7-10 cm wide, the corona filaments variegated with red, white and purple.
