Corylus avellana, the common hazel, is a species of hazel native to Europe and western Asia, from the British Isles south to Iberia, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, north to central Scandinavia, and east to the central Ural Mountains, the Caucasus, and northwestern Iran.
It grows-up to a height of 4-6 feet depending on the dept of the swamp or creek it is growing in, maximum spread of 9 inches. It can be grown in a pot. Widely cultivated for its large pink flowers.
The Dwarf Cavendish Banana makes a good container specimen if given careful attention. Banana plants are extremely decorative, ranking next to palm trees for the tropical feeling they lend to the landscape.
