It is a deciduous semi-evergreen shrub from eastern Asia that is grown for its profusion of red, pink, or white flowers that herald the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It can grow up to about 2 m. It is an amazing ornemental asset for gardens. Hardiness zone: USDA Zones 4 to 8 Prefers full sun to grow. It can adapt to a wide range of soil conditions, but prefers well-drained loams. Established plants will tolerate dryish soils. Avoid heavy pruning. Prune to shape as needed in spring after flowering to stimulate growth of flowering spurs which will improve bloom for the following year
