Datura Discolor
Datura discolor, also known as Sacred Datura or desert thorn-apple, is a bushy herbaceous annual plant with dark green leaves and white trumpet flowers that are occasionally tinged violet inside. The Sacred Datura is related to brugmansia, belladonna and henbane and is found in the American Southwest, in northern Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. The plant can grow to 4.5 feet (1.4 m) tall. Datura discolor has large flowers (170 mm in diameter). The flowers are very short-lived and blossom for only one night and wither the following day. However the plant produces numerous blooms that continue over the course of the season. They have a sweet and delicate scent. Datura discolor fruits are green and spiny, and contain many black seeds. WARNING: Despite this plant?s beauty, all parts including the seeds contain toxic tropane alkaloids that are poisonous if ingested. Do not ingest for any reason and keep away from curious pets and children. The effects of consuming D. discolor include delirium, intense hallucinations, temporary insanity, and extreme physical discomfort. Hardiness Zone : 9-10

Germination Seeds can been pre-treated with GA-3 for increased, quicker and more even germination. Otherwise, seeds can be soaked in warm water prior to planting. Datura seeds should be planted just below the surface of the soil. They can be direct sown or transplanted after the seedlings have developed their first set of true leaves.
A well-draining, nutrient-rich soil such as a mix of sand and compost will produce drastically better results with taller, wider plants that have bigger blooms and more pods. For best results, situate plants in full sun to nearly full sun.
