Euphorbia Epithymoides (Polychroma)
Euphorbia Epithymoides, also known as Euphorbia Polychroma or Cushion Spurge, is native to Eastern Europe. This plant is a popular perennial for its display of bright acid yellow flowers. Cushion Spurge is a fast grower and can grow up to 45 cm (18 in). The plant has dark green leaves. In autumn the foliage turns a lovely shade of bronze, purple or orange. Euphorbia Epithymoides needs full sun or partial shade as well as a light, well-drained garden soil. The plant is practically care-free. The flowers will bloom around May. Flowering occurs during several weeks. Euphorbia Epithymoides is skin and eye irritant/toxic if eaten. When working with spurges always wear gloves since the milky sap is poisonous and a potential skin irritant. Hardiness zone: 4-8

Germination Soak the seeds for two hours in warm water before sowing. Euphorbia plants do not like root disturbance, so it is best to sow the seeds in place of growth or to use deep plugs or pots. Grow at 20 to 26øC (68 to 78øF). Be patient, germination is generally very slow; it may occur in two to three weeks at but sometimes can take a few months.

Surface sow the seeds into plugs or pots using a good seed sowing mix or well-drained soil and cover seed with vermiculite, do not exclude light.
Prick out each seedling as it becomes large enough to handle, transplant into larger pots to grow on. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10 to 15 days before planting out. Plant 30cm (12in) apart in sun and ordinary well drained soil.
