Solanum betaceum
Tamarillo, is a small tree or shrub in the flowering plant family Solanaceae (the nightshade family). It is best known as the species that bears the tamarillo, an egg-shaped edible fruit. This perennial shrub, stocky, with strong ornamental potential by the flared shape of its crown can, if the conditions of cultivation suit it, to reach four meters of height. Its broad, green-green leaves reveal bunches of purple red fruits, the size and shape of small chicken eggs, from September to December.
