Protea Compacta is native to South Africa. It is commonly known under the name of Bot River Sugarbush. Protea Compacta grows up to 8-10 ft. (2.4-3 m) and its beautiful pink flowers are shaped like cups. It is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Grows in coastal and low altitude mountain gardens. It is a rapid and vigorous grower that may even flower in its second year. However, flowers should only be expected from the 5th year if grown from seed. The plant prefers full sun and well-drained soils. Protea Compacta tolerates some alkalinity, light frost but also extended dry periods. Hardiness zone: 8
