Mammillaria elongata est une cactée avec une tige globulaire, plus rarement cylindrique, avec des structures en formes de tubercules qui soutiennent les aiguillons et donnent un aspect "pelote d'épingle".
Ariocarpus furfuraceus est un cactus du genre Ariocarpus, que l'on peut trouver dans l'état de Coahuila au nord du Mexique. Il est considéré par certains auteurs comme synonyme de Ariocarpus retusus.
Cactus sphérique originaire des montagnes côtières du nord du Chili. Possède des fleurs jaunes de 2,5 cm de long qui fleurissent au printemps et en été. Les fleurs sont supposées avoir un parfum très léger.
Espèce en voie de disparition protégée par la CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species). Produit un fruit vert qui est de la taille d'un pamplemousse.
