De larges fleurs violettes se développent sur une mince tige atteignant 90 cm. Ses feuilles filamenteuses peuvent atteindre 30 cm de long et ses trappes pigmentées, jusqu'à 5 mm de large.
Le Gingembre Spirale est une plante haute et spectaculaire développant de larges feuilles vert au rebord jaune, atteignant 20 cm de long et plus, par 4-6 cm de large, arrangées autour de la tige en spirale.
Les feuilles sont ovales, 1 cm de long et d'un vert pale. La longue tige peut supporter jusqu'à 8 fleurs et mesurer 23 cm de haut. Cette Utricularia est généralement cultivée pour ses fleurs.
