Du printemps à l’été, la vigne produit plusieurs fleurs fragrantes, de 12 cm de long, parmi les feuilles pendantes. Les fleurs attrapent les insectes, ce qui facilite la fécondation.
La plante atteint sa maturité tardivement, requérant 120 jours pour produire un fruit vert et 200 jours pour produire un fruit mûre rouge à partir d'un jeune plant.
