Le palmier est monoïque et fleurit chaque année. Des inflorescences longues de 1.5 mètres poussent entre les feuilles du palmier et chacune supporte une multitude de petites fleurs jaunes ou rouges.

La plante atteint sa maturité tardivement, requérant 120 jours pour produire un fruit vert et 200 jours pour produire un fruit mûre rouge à partir d'un jeune plant.
