Mammillaria elongata est une cactée avec une tige globulaire, plus rarement cylindrique, avec des structures en formes de tubercules qui soutiennent les aiguillons et donnent un aspect "pelote d'épingle".
La grandeur de cette plante dépendra de la profondeur de l'eau, mais elle peut se développer à une profondeur de 30-150 centimètres. Cette beauté tropicale peut s’élargir jusqu’à avoir de 3' à 5 ' de large.
