La plante atteint sa maturité tardivement, requérant 120 jours pour produire un fruit vert et 200 jours pour produire un fruit mûre rouge à partir d'un jeune plant.
Se développe bien à l'intérieur sur un rebord de fenêtre ensoleillé, dehors pendant les mois plus chauds, et en serre chaude car les deux conditions sont alors facilement réalisables.
