Echinacea purpurea
L'Échinacée Pourpre est une plante endémique d'Amérique du Nord, elle possède une tête généralement pourpre.
Cette plante herbacée vivace hermaphrodite possède à maturité une hauteur d'environ 120 cm pour une largeur de 25 cm. Selon le climat, elle croit du printemps jusqu'à la fin de l'été. Elle est pollinisée par les papillons et abeilles. Son habitat comprend les boisés secs clairsemés, les prairies et les landes ainsi que les terres cultivées.

| Usage thérapeutique | One study shows Echinacea purpurea has antidepressant properties in white rats as it increased the stimulating action of L-DOPA. Echinacea is believed by many people to stimulate the immune system. In indigenous medicine of the native American Indians, the plant is used externally for wounds, burns, and insect bites, chewing of roots for toothache and throat infections; internal application is used for pain, cough, stomach cramps and snake bites. |
